Endodontic Services
Endodontics is a branch of dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association involving treatment of the pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth containing nerves and blood vessels) and surrounding tissues of the tooth. Each of our teeth has roots below the gum line that attach the teeth to the bone. Inside each root is a channel or “root canal space” that contains the pulp. Bacteria that are introduced into the pulp as a result of tooth decay, periodontal disease, tooth fracture or other problems, can severely damage the pulp. When this occurs, an endodontic specialist removes the diseased pulp to save the tooth and prevent further infection and inflammation. This procedure is called endodontic treatment or root canal therapy. After successful endodontic treatment the tooth will continues to function normally.
