Product and Services
The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry have both recommended that all children be seen by a dentist within 6 months of the appearance of their first tooth or age 1. Multiple studies have shown that children seen by this age have significantly fewer dental treatment related costs over the course of their lifetime. At an infant oral exam we perform and intraoral and extraoral exam to make sure your childs teeth and soft tissues are developing normally. We concentrate on prevention of tooth decay by performing a cavity risk assessment. We will talk about diet, oral hygiene, fluoride, and injury prevention so that together we can create a bright and healthy smile for your children.
At Sandy Shores our first priority is prevention of tooth decay and other oral diseases. We take pride in every child that has a “cavity free” visit. We will be happy to discuss specific methods to maintain your child’s oral health based on their cavity risk. Part of prevention is also injury prevention. We offer custom athletic mouth guards to help your children play their sports comfortably and safely. At your child’s exam we will clean your child’s teeth and also offer in-office fluoride treatments to make your child’s teeth shine. We perform a full diagnostic exam and radiographs, examining both the intra-oral and extra-oral hard and soft tissues to make sure your child’s oral health is complete.
Even with the parent’s best efforts, some kids still get cavities! Our office is skilled in providing restorative treatment to get your kiddos oral health back to square one. We offer a whole range of treatment options including the latest in esthetic white crowns and fillings. We will be happy to discuss your wide range of options at your child’s examination.
We understand that every child is unique. Behavior and the ability to cooperate for dental procedures vary from child to child. For this reason we offer a full spectrum of treatment at Sandy Shores so that we can tailor the method of treatment to your child. We offer:
At your child’s examination we will discuss whether or not we need to perform any of these sedation methods and which would best for your child. Our doctors are well trained to provide emergency treatment for your child. Whether your child fell and experienced dental or oral trauma or they have a swollen cheek or a toothache, we can help. Please call us at any time and we will make arrangements to see you as soon as possible. We accept a wide range of dental insurances at Sandy Shores, including Medicaid.
