Quartz Worktops
Quartz worktops are made from engineered stone, a man-made material with many of the properties of natural rock. Particles of quartz and other minerals are bonded with a plastic resin to create a hard, non-porous composite which machines and polishes like granite.
Because the “ingredients” can be carefully selected, other minerals, glass, mirror and metal can be added, and dyes injected with the resin, a vast range of colour and appearance can be achieved. Quartz manufacturers are constantly developing new products, with some materials having a strongly synthetic appearance, and others being very beautifully made copies of natural stone. In terms of the obviously man-made look, perhaps the best-known would be the very pure colours, and especially whites like our own Affordable White, and the sparkly mirror flecked quartz, like Silestone Blanco Stellar, seen in a Sussex kitchen
Dekton Worktops
Dekton is a sophisticated blend of the raw materials used to produce the very latest in glass and porcelain as well as the highest quality work surfaces.
We are proud to be able to offer Dekton as an alternative to Granite or Quartz worktops. This innovative new material has been developed by Cosentino, the same company behind Silestone and one of the most respected brands in engineered stone worktops. Whereas many worktop products are held together with about 7% plastic-type resin, in Dekton the resin content has been dropped altogether.
