STAC Climate Control - Chichester

STAC Climate Control was set up in 2002 by Stephen Brady and Anna Brennan who jointly have worked in the refrigeration and air conditioning trade for over 30 years.

Stephen has been in the industry for over 20 years starting in the early 80’s designing and manufacturing refrigeration units. From there he has held senior positions in national companies as technical engineer repairing systems and training new engineers.

Anna started life at Heatbusters (then the largest portable air conditioning supplier). She gained her experience from working in telesales, marketing, administration, customer service, technical support and even attending site herself to carry out installations.

In 2002 they decided to join forces and set up STAC which has been going from strength to strength ever since.

Qualifications

The Ozone Depleting Substances (Qualifications) Regulations 2006 which came into force on 10 July 2006 basically states that anybody working on Refrigeration or Air Conditioning Systems charged with ozone depleting Refrigerant must hold either a CITB Construction Skills Safe Handling of Refrigerant Qualification or City & Guilds 2078.  The industry has until the 9 April 2007 to comply. Whereas STAC Climate Control have been complient from 2002.

Legal Responsibility

Refrigerants are classified as hazardous substances under the Environmental Protection Act of 1990, which came into force in April 1992.  Therefore, anyone found deliberately venting Refrigerants i.e. knowingly putting Refrigerant into a system that is leaking would be in contravention of section 33 and 34 and would be liable for prosecution  thereunder with potential fines of up to £20,000 and /or 6 months in jail.

EC Regulation 2037/2000 which came into force on 1 October 2000 states that any Refrigeration or Air Conditioning System with a Refrigerant charge greater than 3kg must have an annual documented leak test thereby proving that the system is not leaking and is therefore working efficiently.

We are F-GAS, CITB and ACRIB registered for the safe handling of refrigerants and we keep all of our staff up to date with relevant qualifications and the current legislations.

Additional Information

Breakdown

We can offer one-off breakdown call-outs as well as call outs for those customers with maintenance contracts. For clients with maintenance contracts we can offer out-of-hours cover.

We aim to attend site within 6 working hours of call-out i.e. if you call in the morning we will attend site by that afternoon, if you call in the afternoon we will attend site the next morning.

When there are especially busy periods the client who has a maintenance contract will take priority. However if you have a server room or a walk-in-freezer the potential loss to a business is greater than an administration office with a unit that isn’t cooling correctly. As each business is different we try to understand each individual need and respond accordingly.

Servicing

We can offer one-off services of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment or maintenance contracts where we agree a fixed price for carrying out a regular service on your equipment, normally every six months. This can avoid sudden breakdowns as equipment is being regularly checked for faults and kept in running order.

It can also increase the longevity of the systems as filters and motors are kept clean, avoiding the system getting clogged up with dust and dirt and creating a cleaner environment for staff.

For further information please contact us on 01243 673675 or use the contact us page.

Repair

When we attend breakdowns or conduct services we always try to repair any faults we find on the spot.  We keep stock of all common items such as fan motors, freon and condensate pumps on all of our vehicles. We will advise you of the cost where necessary before any components are replaced.

If we need to source the part we have a large number of suppliers who can generally deliver parts to us next day.  We will supply you with a quotation and order the parts agreed.
