The word ‘Jazz’ has become synonymous with the South Melbourne’s Rising Sun Hotel. This is thanks to the hotel’s weekly ‘Jazz On Thursdays’ tradition. Each Thursday from 6.30 - 9.30PM Jazz fans from all over Australia flock to the Rising Sun to enjoy music from a traditional jazz piano trio (piano, double bass, and drums), led by accomplished musician and pianist Joe Ruberto. The evening is open to new and old fans of jazz music. Due to the popularity of the event, booking is essential. The Rising Sun South Melbourne is the Melbourne home of the Sydney Swans (formerly South Melbourne Football Club). We have a long history with the club right back to it's South Melbourne roots, with many of the clubs legends calling this their home ground.
