We can all have a positive impact on the environment by making small changes in our daily habits.
When it comes to moving green, it takes a commitment to making environmentally friendly choices. It is definitely worth the effort and does make a difference. GREENLITE MOVERS has analyzed the moving green process from start to finish. We have put in place practices, green moving products and green moving procedures to ensure that moving green can be affordable while leaving the smallest possible carbon footprint as you relocate.
Recycle, recycle, recycle – this is a must when moving green. More than 90% of household items can be recycled, reused and/or donated in some fashion. We can help with this on Move Day. We prefer to donate to church or not for profit organizations.
Pack your belongings in used boxes. Whether you go to a local supermarket or liquor store or search on the internet for people getting rid of moving boxes , there is always a way to find used boxes.
Pack your boxes with household materials. Instead of using paper or Styrofoam packing materials, use bath towels, kitchen towels, sheets and or clothing to help pack and wrap fragile items. Also, you can save your daily newspapers. Newspapers make great packing materials for glass items.
Don’t make several trips in the family vehicle before Move Day to bring small items to the new home. This could easily double or triple your carbon footprint.When disposing of hazardous materials such as paints, cleaning supplies, batteries, insecticides, gasoline and motor oil contact your state environmental protection agency for advice and instructions of acceptable disposal methods and sites.

We are by far and away the most environmentally friendly local green moving company in the Hillsborough County and Pinellas County Area. For example, we use a Chicago Electric power systems 45 watt solar panel with a 400 watt power inverter charging a 12 volt deep cycle battery bank. This unit powers our entire office: computer; printer, scanner, and all hand held electronics including cell phones and processing machines. We are very proud of this system. We also use the e-billing options with all third-party companies. These companies include banks, merchant services accounts, insurance companies and packing material suppliers. These relationships are all 95% paperless. We also insist on using 100% recycled paper for all office transactions. This makes us the most environmentally friendly local green moving company in the Tampa Bay Area.
We also practice environmentally friendly green moving habits on the job site during your local move. We offer 100% recycled packing material: green moving boxes and packing paper. All our moving pads are 95% cotton and all uniforms are 100% cotton. While wrapping furniture using moving pads, we use rubber fasteners. This cuts down the use of packing tape by 95%. Our floor protection product is made of 100% recycled materials. All four wheel dollies are a wood product and not processed steel. And we insist on recycling 100% of all company materials ranging from soda cans to ink cartridges. On the job site all drinking water consumed comes from refillable gallon jugs that we recycle on a weekly basis. This keeps us from having to recycle hundreds of individual water bottles every month.
As owner and lead local mover, I strongly recommend doing your estimate electronically. These options consist of phone and/or computer. This keeps the carbon footprint of your green moving experience at a minimum by saving vehicle emissions doing onsite estimates. That being said, I will always do an onsite estimate if requested. I can give you a very accurate estimate for your local move by simply asking a few questions regarding the services you will need.
