Built in the 60’s, Half Moon has been completely rejuvenated in recent years and now boasts six drinking and dining spaces over two levels. In a salute to its original pub days as Hotel Central in the 1960's, Half Moon has extended and opened its Main Bar to celebrate the essence of the ultimate urban pub. Perch at the beautiful 25 metre Black Butt timber bar and enjoy a wine from the extraordinary list of 80 quality varieties and 35 available by the glass, or one of 16 exceptional craft beers carefully selected from the finest breweries around the Australia.
Watch televised broadcasts of major sports events on the built in plasma screens or settle in for the afternoon around the fireplace in the cooler months. Alternatively find a spot with friends in the Greg Palmer landscaped beer garden beneath the 2 storey high, retractable ceiling and Melbourne’s first state of the art air mist cooling system that ensures you remain comfortable all year round. All this while you listen to the DJ spinning tunes on the decks beneath the recycled timber slatted open air staircase and walkway.

Connected to the airy courtyard by the original exposed brick wall, the Main Dining Room provides a fantastic relaxed dining setting. Half Moon specialises in true pub fare with a sophisticated but not pretentious edge prepared by our talented chef's.
Our Chef insists on using only the freshest, premium quality, local and regional ingredients and maintaining the essence of the relaxed ritual that is pub dining. The food at Half Moon is demonstrative of the kind of meal one craves with a pot of the nation’s finest ale or perhaps a bottle of fantastic wine, best shared with friends accompanied by a side of great conversation.
The Central Room at the rear of Half Moon has been decked out to accommodate all genres and sizes of events including private parties, 21st birthdays, corporate functions, formal brunches, lunches and dinners plus anything we have missed in this list! The Cental Room caters for functions of up to 40 people sit down, 50 people theatre style and up to 100 guests cocktail style.
The light filled room boasts its own private deck and a full AV system including built-in 52 inch plasma for professional presentations, complimented by the surround sound system. Choose from a range of flexible function menus and select your preferred craft draught beers to be poured on tap exclusively for your event from our range of 16 available in addition to our extensive wine list on offer.
This light filled north-east facing bar with adjoining balcony deck is ideal for intimate cocktails by the fireplace or a place to party with friends while the DJ plays on Friday nights. It is also perfect for private functions for up to 150 people including cocktail parties, birthdays, product launches. These functions can be facilitated by our state of the art AV system which includes a plasma screen, dvd player, surround sound system and microphone.
The private dining room – named the Molina Room after owners of the establishment in its Hotel Central pub days of the 1960s, Joe and Lou Molina - is hidden within its awe inspiring wine display walls. The stunning dove tail edged American Oak communal table seats 16 people and is ideal for intimate private dinners, birthdays and corporate presentations facilitated by the built in audio visual system.
