Additional Information

The forehead and eyebrow region often show noticeable signs of aging. Looseness in these areas may cause drooping eyebrows, forehead furrows and frown lines. The goal of the forehead lift is to raise the eyebrows and reduce the frown lines between the eyebrows. For improvement in this area Dr. Ward performs an endoscopic procedure for browlifts. Operating on a TV screen Dr. Ward makes five tiny well hidden incisions in the hair. The forehead is raised and attached at a naturally higher location. The use of endoscopic technology has been a major advance in treating forehead surgery. This surgery is often combined with facelift surgery.

The Erbium laser is used to treat aging and sun-damaged skin to restore a smoother, more youthful appearance. Erbium laser skin resurfacing removes superficial and moderately deep facial wrinkles, as well as improves deeper wrinkles. Dr. Ward uses the Erbium laser to gently vaporize the damaged skin layers, which stimulates the production of collagen, thus resulting in tightening and smoothing of the skin. Many clients chose to have laser surfacing for an improvement of lines around the mouth and under the eyes. A combination of laser resurfacing and facelift surgery is very common in Dr. Ward’s practice and provides the patient with the very best improvement if needed.

Dr. Ward utilizes the state of the art Sciton Erbium laser to perform skin resurfacing in his facility’s operating room as an outpatient procedure. As compared to other lasers, the Sciton Erbium laser results in less post-operative redness and swelling. This leads to a more rapid healing time with a shorter recovery time for the patient. Most patients are fully recovered and can resume normal activities within 8 to 10 days. During the postoperative period, the treated facial areas are kept moist with Crisco. Patients can normally resume wearing make-up after 10 to 12 days.

Our Aesthetician provides a prepping Retin-A cream for use before surgery and provides camouflage make-up to help conceal redness afterwards. It is very important to use sun protection for 2 to 3 months following Erbium laser resurfacing. During the first few weeks following the laser resurfacing, the pink skin will fade to normal tone with a softer, smoother and younger looking appearance.

Product and Services

The eyelids are frequently the first to show the signs of aging, resulting in a tired, sad appearance. This is very apparent because the eyes are the first thing that we notice in a person’s face. Eyelid surgery is performed on men and women of all ages who want to minimize the effects of aging.

Facelifts and Necklifts are a very large part of Dr. Ward’s practice. Facelifts are procedures that Dr. Ward performs weekly on both men and women. He is keenly aware of the importance of minimal to no scars and is highly dedicated to giving a very natural younger looking appearance. All of his female clients are able to wear their hair up with no concern about scars. Dr. Ward spends as much time as necessary evaluating your appearance, aging concerns, and personal goals. He believes in giving each patient competent, individualized attention, with an ultimate goal of making you look as young as you feel.

His desire for facial surgery is to provide you with an overall well-rested appearance with natural results. Dr. Ward is expertly crafted, a truly beneficial facelift demands a mastery of the intricacies of facial anatomy, and it is important for him to accurately assess what your expectations are and whether or not they are realistic. Facelift consultations last about 45 minutes, giving Dr. Ward the opportunity to explain the surgery in detail and to share his before and after portfolio. After scheduling surgery a follow-up appointment is made to discuss pre and post operative instructions with his nursing staff.

There may also be excess fat in the eyelids which causes “baggy” eye lids. This is frequently present in both the upper and lower eyelids. Initially the bags are noticeable only on awakening in the morning. As the problem becomes more severe, this puffy look persists throughout the day. This tendency is inherited and may appear very early in life (even in the teens and ’20s) before the aging process becomes obvious.

With eyelid surgery, the removal of excess skin and fat pads will give a rested, youthful appearance, but does very little to change the fine lines and the crow’s feet. If the skin is pulled tightly in attempt to eliminate these fine lines, the lower lid will be pulled down and a deformity created. The normal almond shape of the eyes may be distorted. We use other techniques, such as the chemical peel, Botox/Dysport or laser resurfacing, to improve or remove these fine lines.
